How can I extend the life of my plumbing fixtures?

Why do my drains get blocked up?
Usually drains get blocked up because people are not careful of what they allow them to go down them, especially in the kitchen. Kitchen drains slowly accumulate all the fats and oils that get washed down from the food, eventually this closes the pipe up so much that it become ineffective. You should call AJR right away. Leaking hot water units usually indicate the bottom of the tank has rusted. There are really no good repairs for this problem. You will most likely need a new unit. This problem shouldn’t be confused with the regular dripping that may occur from the release valves on the hot water unit which are designed to release water if the pressure in the tank increases beyond a set point. However constant excessive dripping means the valve needs replacing as it is malfunctioning.

So when you buy a hot water unit that is guaranteed to last for ten years it will probably last for twelve.
